It was earlier reported that Cricket Oman were in talks with Cricket Ireland for a T20I series at home around Feb 2019 and that they were also considering having Scotland and Netherlands getting involved in the plans.
The plans have been successful after Cricket Oman announced that they are indeed going to host all the three European member nations in a T20I quadrangular series, tentatively from Feb 10th – 17th 2019. No schedule or venues have been announced yet but it’s easy to assume that all matches will be held at Cricket Oman turf pitches at Al Amarat, which recently hosted ICC World Cricket League Division 3 matches.
It’ll be the first time when Oman will be hosting a Full member in an official series along with two other ODI status nations (having hosted UAE before in 50-overs matches in 2017) at the same time. Oman currently possess T20I status, gained from the last World T20 tournament held in 2016 in India.
All four nations are already qualified in the 2020 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualifiers based on their participation and finish in the last World T20 and will look forward to a competitive T20I series to start 2019 on a fresh note.
Scotland are currently ranked 11th in the ICC Team T20I rankings followed by Netherlands (14th), Oman (16th) & Ireland (17th).
