Oman registered victory over Hong Kong by a narrow margin of 2 wickets in the 1st match of the 3-match series @Sevens Cricket Ground in Dubai.

Oman, fresh after a 3-0 series victory over USA a few days earlier, continued their good form as the bowlers were able to restrict Hong Kong to 207 in 47.5 overs. Oman then chased the total down by reaching 211/8 in 49 overs to win the close thriller of a match.

In a match dominated by bowlers from both the camps, there were notable batting contributions coming in the way of couple of 40’s from Cameron McAuslan & Anshuman Rath for HK and half-centuries for Vaibhav Wategaonkar & Aaqib Ilyas for Oman. Khawar Ali picked up a 4-for in an economical spell for Oman. Aizaz Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Hong Kong with 3/37.

Oman is preparing for ICC WCL Division 2 in Feb 2018 in Namibia to earn a place on the World Cup Qualifiers in Mar 2018, for which Hong Kong have already secured their spot.
