Oman receives BCCI invitation to take part in U19 Quadrangular ODI tournament

Cricket Oman have received a formal invitation from BCCI for their senior men’s squad to take part in a U19 Quadrangular ODI series to be played in Feb/Mar 2019.

The series will feature U19 team from South Africa, India U19 “A” and “B” and Oman national squad, if they accept the invitation. However, Mumbai Mirror have learnt that there may be hurdles to that based on the face that the national squad have few Pakistan-origin players, which might cause hindrance in them getting VISA clearances.

If Oman decline the invitation due to VISA issues, then Afghanistan U19 squad might get the invitation to replace them in the Quadrangular tournament. Oman recently took part in the ACC Emerging Nations Asia Cup and all their matches (group phase) were held in Sri Lanka.

The National squad will soon be taking on Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands in a T20I Quadrangular tournament in Feb 2019 at home. They also played host’s to recently concluded ACC Western Region T20 tournament, which was played with official T20I status.
