Oman men’s national squad started their 2020 calendar with a comfortable ODI win over UAE in the first game of ICC CWC League 2 round 4, being hosted by Cricket Oman from Jan 05th – 12th, 2020 at Al Amerat.
Bilal Khan and Zeeshan Maqsood shared 7 wickets amongst themselves, as UAE were bowled out for 170 runs in their 48th over. Bilal Khan was instrumental in giving Oman the perfect start as he picked up all his 3 wickets inside the first 10 overs of UAE innings. Muhammad Usman’s fighting knock of 68 runs provided the backbone to the UAE innings, as wickets kept falling at the other end.
Jatinder Singh continued his good form with a half-century to his name and shared a 112-runs partnership with Aqib Ilyas, who top-scored for Oman with unbeaten 80 runs to his credit. UAE managed to pick up some late wickets but the chase was always in Oman’s control as they reached to win the game by 5 wickets.
USA are currently leading the points table with 6 wins from their 8 completed matches. Oman are currently at 3rd spot in the table after their win over UAE. Both USA and Oman are scheduled to travel to Nepal in Feb 2019 for the 5th round of CWC League 2 and Oman will be looking forward to reduce the points gap to USA to as much as possible before that by the conclusion of round 4.
