Oman register 6th win and join USA on top in CWC League 2 Championship

Oman’s Mohammad Nadeem registered his 2nd consecutive half century to lead his team to a 6-wicket win over USA and join them on top of the points table in ICC CWC League 2 Championship. After bowling out USA for 213, Oman reached their target, scoring 214/4 in 49.3 overs to register their 6th win from their 8 completed matches in the Championship so far.

Oman bowlers kept USA innings under check after picking up 4 wickets inside the first 16 overs, but a 82-runs partnership between Ian Holland and Akshay Homraj for the 5th wicket steadied the innings. Holland went onto score his maiden ODI half-century and top-scored for USA with 65 runs to his name (his 2nd List-A half-century after the first one was scored during USA’s campaign in 2019 Windies Super50 tournament). Homraj contributed 44 runs to the team’s total, but Oman bowlers came back strongly and kept picking up wickets. Mohammad Nadeem picked up 3 wickets, while Bilal Khan, Zeeshan Maqsood and Aqib Ilyas picked up 2 wickets each.

Mohammad Nadeem’s partnership of 64-runs with Aqib Ilyas and the unbeaten 63-runs partnership with Suraj Kumar were the standout moments of Oman’s chase. Nadeem’s 85-ball unbeaten knock of 55 runs, coupled with his heroics with the ball earned him the man-of-the-match accolades. Aqib Ilyas also delivered an all-round performance in the match and continued his good form in the past 6-9 months for Oman.
