Oman Cricket Board are looking to host Cricket Ireland for a 3-match T20I series as early as Feb 2019 and talks are underway to see the availability of a potential tour by Ireland.

Pankaj Khimji, a senior OC board member told Oman Observer on the sidelines of Oman Cricket hosting the ICC World Cup Trophy tour that if talks are fruitful, it will provide a big opportunity for Oman to host a major International series at home after being awarded the hosting rights for ICC World Cricket League Division 3 in Nov 2018.

Oman currently hold T20I status following their campaign in the 2016 ICC World T20 in India and are going to be part of the global qualifiers for 2020 ICC World T20 if they do not finish among the Top 10 countries in ICC T20I Team rankings at the end of 2018.

For Ireland, it would be another opportunity to play an overseas T20I bi-lateral series in a fast improving emerging nation in the Gulf region.
