Opportunity for Ireland & Associates to upset under-strength Windies squad for WCQ

Cricket West Indies have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. While some of the big names are part of the squad, the majority others are not.

West Indies are part of Group A comprising of Ireland, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and the winners of WCL Div 2. With the top stars (Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell & Darren Bravo) choosing to play in Pakistan Super League (PSL), the look of their squad looks depleted at first glance. The notable inclusion of Carlos Brathwaite adds some degree of experience in the squad. Windies will bank heavily on the likes of Gayle, Samuels, Lewis & Brathwaite to do the bulk of the work against the Associates & Ireland.

With top 3 teams from both groups advancing to the Super Sixes stage, it would be a great opportunity for the Associate countries to try and cause upset wins over the Windies.
