Cricket PNG selectors have announced the 14-member “The City Pharmacy PNG Lewas” squad, which will be travelling to Netherlands to take part in 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 qualifiers from 07th – 14th Jul, 2018.
PNG Women’s Team is clubbed with UAE Women, Bangladesh Women & Netherlands Women in the same group, from which the top 2 team’s will qualify for the semi-final stage. PNG Lewas were the Plate Champions the last time the World T20 qualifiers were held in Bangkok in 2015.
The squad will arrive in Netherlands well in advance to play practice games against Netherlands (29th Jun), UAE (2nd Jul) and Thailand (3rd Jul) before playing their official warm-up game against Ireland on 5th Jul 2018. All Women’s T20 International matches from 01st Jul 2018 onwards will carry T20I status and the event will provide all the Associate members their maiden T20I games during the 1 week sojourn in Netherlands.
Kaia Arua and Ravini Oa will join the ICC Women’s Development squad after the conclusion of World T20 qualifiers for a tour of UK, where the squad will play 5 matches against KIA Super League team’s from 17th – 20th Jul, 2018.
