Porterfield signs up as player/coach for Formby’s in UK

Ireland skipper William Porterfield has joined Liverpool Premier League side Formby CC in a player/coach role for the 2018 season.

The move comes after Porterfield moved to Liverpool and with this deal, he can continue playing in the UK after being released from Warwickshire earlier this year.

“William’s very keen to get involved with the coaching and to play a full part in the life of our club. It was a perfect fit for both of us,” said Tom Mills, Formby’s second team skipper and the committee member partly responsible for signing the 33-year-old opener.

Porterfield still is expected to play in Ireland’s first-class competition, Inter-Pro series for North West Warriors. And he will miss some of the Liverpool League Games due to his International commitments with Ireland.
