Qatar T10 League launched with Associate focus in Dec 2019

Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) will be hosting it’s maiden T10 league, Qatar T10 League, from Dec 07th-16th, 2019.

The tournament has been sanctioned by ICC and Qatar Cricket Association were given the hosting rights, with the league to be hosted at Asian Town International Cricket Stadium. Players can register for the draft here.

Qatar T10 league will comprise of six teams, and QCA have announced that around 24 international professional cricket stars and 12 players from associate ICC member countries will be picked to play in the tournament, alongside Qatar’s national cricket team members and domestic players from QCA accredited clubs. Each team will play a minimum of 5 matches in a single round-robin league format with top four teams at the conclusion of the league stage to qualify for the semifinals.

The player draft is expected to take place at the beginning of Dec 2019. Each team will consist of 15 members (1 ICON player + 3 Overseas professionals + 3 Associate member country players + 8 Qatar resident or registered players). The Team names are Falcon Hunters, Flying Oryx, Desert Riders, Pearl Gladiators, Heat Stormers & Swift Gallopers.

Qatar hosted Jersey’s national squad recently in a 3-match T20I series, before Jersey travelled to UAE to take part in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

72 domestic Qatar players have been registered for the player draft, from which 48 will be drafted to the 6 team’s.
