Afghanistan’s leg-spinning prodigy, Rashid Khan, bagged the player of the match award on his BBL debut for Adelaide Strikers against Sydney Thunder.
Rashid (2/22 off 4), along with the seasoned war horse, Peter Siddle (2/6) and Ben Laughlin (4/26) took out the Thunder line-up with home grown keeper batsman Alex Carey top scored with 44, earlier in their innings.
“It means a lot to Afghanistan, it was a dream to play in his this league, to perform and get man of the match. It is a proud moment for my family,” said Rashid.
Rashid gained an outside edge from Ryan Gibson (4) before flummoxing Ben Rohrer with his trademark googly in the same over to take out the steam out of Thunder’s chase of 164.
“I enjoyed myself, it was great. It was good to have a new celebration.” Rashid concluded.
