Cricket Scotland have confirmed that a revised schedule for men’s and women’s domestic regional series will take place Sep 13th – 27th, which will mark resumption of premier domestic competition in the country after the COVID-19 pandemic lock-downs impacted all sporting activities for more than 4-5 months.
Eastern Knights, Caledonian Highlanders and Western Warriors will take part in the men’s regional series, while Eagles (representing the east of Scotland) and Stormers (representing the rest of Scotland) will compete against each other in the women’s regional series. All the men’s teams will play each other twice before the top 2 teams advance to the final. The women’s teams will play each other in four T20 matches. All the fixtures will take place behind-closed-doors at all the venues.
Head coaches for Scotland’s men’s and women’s national squad, Shane Burger and Steven Knox, have welcomed the move of regional series being held, and will check the progress of domestic players in the matches for future opportunities with the senior national teams.
Scotland women’s “A” squad are currently in England, where they are playing T20 matches against women’s teams from Lancashire and Yorkshire, which consists of seven players from Stormers and six players from Eagles.
