Schedule announced for Round 4 of ICC CWC League 2 in Oman

Oman Cricket (OC) have announced the schedule for the upcoming round 4 of ICC CWC League 2 Championship from Jan 05th – 12th, 2019, to be held at Al Amerat. Oman will be hosting UAE and Namibia in the ODI Tri-series, and all the team’s will play 4 ODI matches each during the event.

All the participating nations have played a round each in the League 2 Championship, with UAE having hosted the recently concluded round 3 (vs Scotland/USA) and Oman playing in round 1 of the Championship (vs Scotland/Papua New Guinea) in Scotland and Namibia playing in round 2 of the Championship (vs USA/Papua New Guinea) in USA.

Both Namibia and Oman will be looking to join or leapfrog USA at the top of the points table, having won 3 of their 4 completed games so far in the Championship. USA currently lead the points table with 6 wins in their 8 completed games. UAE managed to win the final match in round 3 against Scotland to open their points account in the log. All the three teams played against each other during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualifiers in Oct/Nov 2019 in UAE.

The Championship, which will see all the 7 participating nations (Oman, UAE, Scotland, Namibia, USA, Papua New Guinea & Nepal) play 36 ODI matches from 2019-2021 period in set of 21 Tri-series hosted by each of the nations (3 each), is the qualification pathway program towards 2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.
