Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) will be hosting the eleventh (11th) edition of Kwibuka Memorial Women’s T20 tournament (Kwibuka T20) from June 03th – 14th, 2025 at Gahanga International Cricket Stadium and Gahanga Cricket Stadium 2 in Kigali. The tournament, whose inaugural edition took place in 2014, played in remembrance of the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. In all, twelve (10) African nations and a country each from European region (Germany) and South American region (Brazil) have taken part in the editions held between 2014-2023. The 2025 edition will see seven (7) African Associate member nations compete for the title, with Zimbabwe Women’s A team and Brazil Women’s team making their second appearance in the iconic event, which in terms of participating countries, is only behind ICC qualification pathway tournaments conducted in all regions globally.
The tournament will see all the teams play each other in a single round-robin group stage format, followed by semifinals and the FINAL. Kenya Women have won the Kwibuka Memorial tournament four (4) times, followed by Uganda (3 times), Tanzania (2 times) and host’s Rwanda (once), with Uganda Women’s Team being the Defending Champions from last year’s edition. However, in this year’s edition, Kenya Women are not participating.
