Rwanda edge past Zambia in a tense thriller to win series 4-1

A rare Associate bilateral T20 series and a closely fought one between Rwanda and Zambia signifies the need of more such bilateral arrangements between countries in different regions on a global scale.

Rwanda’s inaugural International fixtures at Gahanga Oval saw them edge past Zambia by 5 runs in the final match of the 5-match T20 series and win the series by a healthy margin of 4-1. Rwanda, thus, also showcased their hosting capabilities when Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania visit them for ICC WorldT20 Africa “B” qualifiers in Jul 2018.

The series scoreline might suggest a one-sided affair but it was nothing like that in reality as Zambia showed good fight in the final three games in the series.

Brief Scores:

Rwanda 147 all out in 20 overs (Bob Songa 32, Pankaj Vekaria 23, Prince Uwimanishaka 20, Allan Nsensha 2/16, Godfrey Kandela 2/21, Misheck Malama 1/25) beat Zambia 142/5 in 20 overs (Lawrence Mutale 49 n.o, Isaac Mwaba 30 n.o, Madaliso Mvula 26, Clinton Rubagumya 3/13, Orchide Tuyisenge 2/21) by 5 runs
