Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane has been given one demerit point for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during a group stage match during Biratnagar Titans match against Chitwan Rhinos on 03rd Nov 2018 in the ongoing Pokhara Premier League (PPL) in Pokhara.
Match Referee Satyajit Sarkar handed Lamichhane one demerit point for showing dissent against umpire’s decision (Level 1). It now adds up to his already given 1 demerit point earlier in 2017 to a total of 2 demerit points now.
All level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points, while level 2 breaches carry an imposition of a fine between 50 per cent to 100 per cent of the applicable match fee and/or up to two suspension points, and three or four demerit points.
When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points and a player is banned. Two suspension points equate to a ban from one Test or two ODI’s or two T20I’s, whatever comes first for the player. Four suspension points equate to a ban from two Tests or four ODI’s or four T20I’s, whatever comes first for the player.
