Schedule announced for 4-nation Africa “B” World T20 Qualifiers in Rwanda

International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule of the 4-nation ICC World T20 Africa “B” qualifiers on their website, to be held in Rwanda from Jul 07th – 14th, 2018. All matches will be played at Gahanga Oval stadium in Kigali. It will mark Rwanda’s first ever hosting of an ICC tournament in the country, that will see teams from ICC WCL Division 3, Kenya & Uganda also in the mix.

Rwanda will compete against Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania in the qualifiers for two qualification spots in the Africa regional Finals, to be held in 2019, from which the top team will qualify for World T20 global qualifiers. All teams in the tournament will play two matches against the remaining three opponents in a round-robin group phase to decide the top 2 teams at the end of the group phase matches.

After the completion of the tournament, all the teams involved will travel to Nairobi to take part in the Africa T20 Cup regional qualifiers, that also includes Seychelles in the tournament.

Rwanda won the hosting rights with other countries also bidding to host the event at the ICC Regional cricket offices in South Africa. Rwanda have recently hosted Zambia for a 5-match T20 series and are going to host “Kwibuka24 Cricket for Peace” T20 tournament for women’s team’s from Rwanda, Kenya & Uganda in the coming days.
