Schedule announced for 7th Central American Championships in Mexico

Mexico Cricket Association will be hosting the 7th edition of Central American Championships from Apr 25th – 28th, 2019 at Reforma Athletic Club. Mexico will host and compete against Belize, Panama, Costa Rica and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in the men’s division, while Mexico and Costa Rica will compete in the women’s division. All matches except the ones involving MCC will be official T20I matches and will count towards global ICC T20I team rankings. The Final of the tournament will also be an official T20I if MCC do not reach the title clash at the end of the group stages.

Marylebone Cricket Club are the defending Champions from the 6th edition of CAC, held in Belize in 2017, while Panama finished as runners-up and Belize “B” finished 3rd in the standings. Mexico and Costa Rica men’s team were involved in the 2018 South American Championships in Aug 2018 in Colombia as well, while Panama and Belize played against the regional heavyweights USA and Canada in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas sub-regional qualifiers held in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mexico Women’s team have already made their T20I debut in the Women’s category in the 2018 South American Championships against Brazil and Chile, while Costa Rica Women’s team will be making their debut in the T20I format in CAC2019.
