Tuanaimato Cricket Oval Grounds, Tuanaimato Sports Complex, Faleataa, Samoa, will be home to men’s and women’s squads from Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Samoa, Fiji and New Caledonia during the upcoming 2019 Pacific Games, where cricket discipline will be played from Jul 08th – 13th, 2019. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in all events.
Vanuatu won the Gold in men’s category in the 2015 edition of the games held in Papua New Guinea while Samoa won the Gold in the women’s category. Papua New Guinea clinched the Silver in both categories while Tonga took the bronze in men’s and Fiji took home the bronze in the women’s categories.
The matches will be held in T20 format with official T20I status (except New Caledonia matches in both men’s and women’s categories) and the participating athletes must comply with the International Cricket Council (ICC) Eligibility Criteria. The schedule for both men’s and women’s categories have been announced by the Pacific Games Council. Samoa will be making their men’s T20I team debuts in the tournament. New Caledonia are not part of ICC as of now as an Associate member.
