Schedule for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2019 in Scotland

International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced the schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 in Scotland from 31st Aug – 07th Sep, 2019. Eight countries will be competing in the tournament to decide the two qualifiers for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.

Ireland Women and Bangladesh Women were the direct qualifiers for the event and will be joined by Netherlands (Europe Qualifiers), Papua New Guinea (East Asia-Pacific Qualifiers), Thailand (Asia Qualifiers), USA (Americas Qualifiers), Scotland (Direct Qualifiers as host’s) and Namibia (Africa Qualifiers runners-up and replacing Zimbabwe in the tournament).

All 20 matches will be played across two venues in Scotland, the Forfarshire Cricket Club in Dundee and the Arbroath Cricket Club. All matches in the tournament will be played with official T20I status and ranking points towards ICC Women’s T20I team rankings. The eight countries have been divided into two groups of four each and after the single round-robin group stage across the two venues are concluded, the top two team’s from both the groups will contest the semifinals (both to be played on 05th Sep) and winners will then contest the final (07th Sep), to be played at the Forfarshire Cricket Club.

The play-off matches for the positions from 03rd – 08th will be played on 07th Sep across both the venues. All team’s will be provided with a solitary warm-up match on 29th Aug 2019 to prepare for the tournament proper.

Ireland and Bangladesh had qualified from the previously held Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers held in Jul 2018 in Netherlands. Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands and Thailand recently played a T20I quadrangular series in Netherlands in Aug 2019 to prepare themselves for the qualifiers.

Netherlands and Thailand will furthermore prepare with a T20I Tri-series involving Bangladesh Women from Aug 21-26 in Netherlands.
