Scotland and Oman Qualify for “The Big Dance” in 2020 Australia

Scotland and Oman men’s national squads secured the final two qualification spots for 2020 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia by winning their respective play-off matches against UAE and Hong Kong respectively in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in UAE. Scotland and Oman thus join Papua New Guinea, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia as the six qualifiers into the first round of T20 World Cup.

All the six qualifiers will now play the position play-off matches to decide the groups they will get into in the first round draw in T20 World Cup, where Sri Lanka and Bangladesh await them, from where the top four teams will join the eight direct qualifiers in the Super 12 stage of the tournament.

While Scotland registered an emphatic 90-run win over UAE in the first play-off match in the day, Oman survived a major scare to post a 12-run win over Hong Kong in the final qualification spot play-off match. Scotland and Oman will now play the 5th/6th play-off match on 31st Oct 2019.
