ICC Development awards for Associate Cricket achievements in 2018

The Annual ICC Development Awards are the means to recognise the work undertaken or execute towards growth of cricket by individuals/groups around the world in the Associate member countries. The members are invited to submit nominations, from which the winners are chosed in the Annual ICC Conference held each year around Jun/Jul.

The following were the winners for the calendar year 2018 at the ICC Annual conference held in London from 15th – 18th Jul 2019.

  1. Gray-Nicolls Participation Programme of the Year: The winner of this award is a high performing national cricket body with an excellent national cricket pathway that caters for senior and junior players, both male and female who has excelled in the previous 12 months.

Winner: Cricket Peru

2. Female Participation Programme of the Year: The winner of this award is a high          performing national cricket body with initiatives/activities such as competitions, school        programs, training courses, clinics or awareness programs, that has enhanced the              development of women’s cricket within the community or country in the previous 12            months.

Winner: Samoa International Cricket Association

3. Associate Member Men’s Performance of the Year: Cricket Scotland were                announced as the winners of the award on the basis of their famous ODI win over              Cricket World Cup 2019 winners, England. Scotland also had a strong campaign during        2018 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers and success in hosting and competing in other          multi/bi-lateral T20I/ODI series in 2018.

4. Associate Member Women’s Performance of the Year: Cricket Association of          Thailand were announced as the winners of the award on the basis of their                        performances in 2018, more specifically on their famous win over Sri Lanka Women in        the 2018 Asian Cricket Council Women’s Asia Cup. Thailand Women also competed in          the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup global qualifiers in Netherlands and hosted/competed        in the ASEAN Women’s T20 tournament in 2018.

5. Cricket for Change Innovation of the Year: Bhutan Cricket Council Board were        announced as the winners of the award based on their work with UNICEF Bhutan to            create awareness about health, adoloscence and other social issues in the communities      through cricket.

6. Innovation of the Year: Cricket Scotland were announced as the winners of the            award on the basis of their CricHIIT programme, which was designed to encourage              female participation in cricket by combining HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)              principles with basic cricket skills.
