Scotland announce Men’s squad for T20 World Cup and CWC League 2 Tri-series

Cricket Scotland (CS) have announced a 17-member Men’s national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Oman and UAE in October/November 2021. The final 15 and travelling reserves will be announced by 10th October.

In a major move to boost their preparations for the marquee event, Cricket Scotland have appointed former England International Jonathan Trott as batting consultant for the entire duration of the tournament. Scotland are in the first round group set to take place in Al Amerat in Oman, and involves the host’s, Papua New Guinea and Bangladesh, from which the top 2 teams will advance to the Super12 stage of the tournament.

Scotland will be playing a 3-match T20I series at home in September against the visiting team from Zimbabwe, before flying out to Oman, where they play the 7th round of ODI Tri-series involving Oman and Papua New Guinea from September 25th – October 02nd, 2021.

“What we have in Jonathan Trott is great knowledge and experience of high performance environments. He’s played in World Cups, Ashes Series and travelled to many destinations around the world. He also understands the demands and high pressures of international sport and the environments that they bring with them and it’ll be fantastic to have him as a support in the build up to the World Cup,” Head Coach Shane Burger said in the official press release.
