A matter of a run was how it came down at the end at Malahide as Ireland kept their nerves to win the final match of the T20I Tri-series against Scotland to win the title at home. With the win, Ireland will also gain some crucial ICC T20I team ranking points ahead of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in UAE.

After Scotland registered their 2nd win of the tournament over Netherlands, the final game became a virtual final between them and Ireland. Ireland and Netherlands will be travelling to Oman to continue their preparations, as they take part in a 5-nation T20I tournament featuring the host’s, Nepal and Hong Kong. The World Cup Qualifier squad announced by KNCB will be travelling to Oman, as some of the county specialists (Ryan ten Doeschate, Colin Ackermann, Roelof van der Merwe and Timm van der Gugten) were not available for the Ireland series.

Scotland’s George Munsey was adjudged the player-of-the-tournament for his batting accolades, which included a century against Netherlands. Munsey scored 194 runs in his 4 outings during the series.

Scotland had some good individual performers during the tourament, including the likes of captain Kyle Coetzer, Richie Berrington, Hamza Tahir, Tom Sole and Adrian Neill. Ireland’s young players including the likes of Gareth Delany, Harry Tector and Shane Getkate are also putting in some impressive performances to stake permanent spot in the Irish white-ball set-up for the future.
