Singapore Cricket Association (SCA), have announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Asian Cricket Council Asia Cup Qualifiers from Aug 29th – Sep 06th, 2018 in Malaysia.
Coming into the tournament as the rank dark-horses, Singapore players have the knowledge and experience of playing in conditions in Malaysia and will look to put pressure on the other fancied teams in the tournament but an upset or two is the most expected from them as per general street talk.
Singapore national squad members played against Malaysia at the start of their domestic season and followed up by the SCA Elite series (T20 format), but there hasn’t been much 50-overs competitions thereafter.
The qualifiers will also give the national squad good match-time in the middle before they head to Oman in Nov 2018 for ICC WCL Division 3 and hence, playing Oman in the qualifiers will also help them gauge their performances against the Division 3 host’s.
Singapore will be competing against the likes of UAE, Nepal, Hong Kong, Oman and Malaysia in a bid to qualify for the main event of Asia Cup.
