24 hours earlier and 24 hours later, much got changed at the ICC Academy ground in Dubai in the ongoing 3-match ODI series between UAE and Nepal. Nepal’s bowling pretty much the same with improvements in the batting front. UAE’s batting woes continue for 2nd consecutive time with bowling a give-away in the 2nd game.
The win for Nepal was based on Rohit Paudel’s 55 off 58 balls, thus becoming at 16 years, 146 days old, the youngest male player in history to make an International match (all formats in Men’s category) half-century, beating the record held by none other than India’s Sachin Tendulkar, who at 16 years and 213 days, scored 59 in a Test match against Pakistan and Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, who at 16 years and 217 days, scored the feat in the ODI format against Sri Lanka.
Rohit’s accolades were then supported by a blistering spell by Sompal Kami, who picked up Nepal’s first-ever 5-wicket haul in an ODI match with 5/33 and Sandeep Lamichhane, who claimed three wickets in a single over and added another to finish with figures of 4/24 to bowl out UAE for only 97 runs, chasing 242/9 set by Nepal, batting first.
Quite a turn-around from the 1st game played 24 hours earlier, which was a low-scoring affair with wickets galore for bowlers from both the camps. The series decided will be played on 28th Jan 2019 at the same venue.
