Men’s T20 league reaches finals day in Swaziland

Swaziland Cricket Association (SCA) have been able to organize the 2nd edition of men’s T20 premier league in the country amid COVID-19 pandemic, and the tournament has now reached the knock-out stages.

The senior men’s competition being played from Jul 26th – Sep 20th, 2020 at Malkerns Country Club saw 8 teams competing for the title in the 2nd edition. Teams were divided into two groups of four, where they played each other in a single round-robin group stage format, at the conclusion of which the top two teams from both groups advanced to the semifinals.

Dada XI and Pak XI have booked their place in the final of the tournament, and both the teams have remained unbeaten in the competition so far, winning all their group stage matches and the knock-out semifinals. Dada XI defeated Rouges club in the semifinal, while Pak XI got the better of Rontanya club in the second semifinal.

It comes as no surprise that players from both the clubs feature in the top run-scoring and wicket-taking charts in the league. Adil Butt (Dada XI) and Abbas Ali (Sahi XI) have managed to score the two centuries registered in the 2020 edition. Irfan Kulfiwala (Dada XI) tops the bowling charts and has a unique record of claiming a 8-wicket haul in a single T20 game during the competition.

SCA have health guidelines in place, that all participants have to adhere to in order to mitigate the risks of spreading the virus. No spectators are allowed to come to match venue during the competition.
