Switzerland crowned 2018 Central Europe Cup Champions

Switzerland were crowed Champions of 2018 Central Europe Cup in Prague, as they won their final match of the tournament and remained unbeaten throughout the 50-overs competition comprising of themselves, Luxembourg and two teams from Czech Republic (Eagles & Lions) from 15th – 17th Jun, 2018.

On the final day of the competition, Switzerland were comfortable winners against Luxembourg, as they defeated them by 8 wickets, chasing a sub-par score of 172 set by their opponents. Czech Republic Lions registered their first win of the tournament as they defeated Czech Republic Eagles by 6 wickets, chasing a modest 190 set by Eagles team.

While Switzerland were victorious by claiming all 12 points on offer (4 points per win), Luxembourg and both teams from Czech Republic finished on equal 4 points having won one match each in their 3 games in total. Czech Republic Lions, though, edged past both the Eagles team and Luxembourg on the basis of net run-rate.

Overall, it was a very well organised tournament by Czech Cricket and Kriketova Akademie, which has been an annual feature in the Czech Republic International calendar. Switzerland will now travel to Warsaw, Poland, to take part in the 6-nation Euro Twenty20 Cup in July 2018, while Czech Republic travel to Luxembourg for a T20 tournament in July 2018.
