Cayman Cricket to host 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Sub-regional Qualifier B in March 2026

Cayman Cricket (CC) will be hosting the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Sub-regional Qualifier B tournament from March 08th – 16th, 2026 at the Jimmy Powell Oval ground in George Town. Cayman Cricket will be hosting the Men’s National teams of Argentina, Mexico and Suriname in the tournament, which will be played in a double round-robin group stage format. The Winner of the tournament, based on the points table, will advance to the Americas Qualifier next year.

Cricket Argentina will be hosting the historic 127th edition of the annual three (3)-day match between the select North and South teams (North vs South or Norte XI vs Sur XI) from February 14th – 16th, 2026 at the St Georges College ground in Quilmes. The History of the North vs South series dates back to 1891, when the inaugural match was held at Buenos Aires cricket club ground in Palermo, with the North team registering a 3-wicket win over their South counterparts.

Cricket Brazil to host Men’s/Women’s South American Cricket Championships 2025 in October/November

Cricket Brazil will be hosting the 2025 South American Cricket Championships (Men’s SACC – SAC and Women’s SACC – WSAC) from October 30th – November 02nd, 2025 at the Sao Fernando Polo and Cricket Club in Seropedica. The Men’s South American Championships (SACC 2025) will be the 20th edition of the iconic tournament in the region, while the Women’s WSAC will be the 15th edition of the tournament. Argentina Team have been the most successful team in the tournament’s history with 12 Title wins, with Chile and Mexico winning it twice and Panama Team being the Defending Champions from the 2024 edition, which was also hosted by Cricket Brazil.

Men’s National teams of Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Colombia will be joined by the MCC team (Marylebone Cricket Club) in the tournament. MCC team will be playing matches against Panama, Mexico and Peru, while the other participants will play each other in a single round-robin group stage format. The most notable absentee this year will be the Men’s Team of Argentina, who have won the Tournament a staggering twelve (12) times since its inception. The U19 and U15 Men’s/Boy’s and the U19 Women’s events were hosted by Cricket Argentina in September 2025.

The Women’s edition will see the Brazil and Argentina A teams play a three (3)-match series for the Title, while the MCC Women’s team will be playing two (2) matches each against Argentina A and Brazil after the completion of the WSAC event. Argentina Women have won the WSAC eight (8) times, while Brazil Women have been dominant in the last four (4) editions, having won the title six (6) times in total.

Cricket Brazil to host South American Cricket Championships 2024 in September/October

Cricket Brazil will be hosting the 2024 South American Championships (SAC and WSAC – Men’s and Women’s) in the months of September and October. The Women’s South American Championships (WSAC 2024) will take place from September 26th – 29th at Poços de Caldas, while the Men’s South American Championships (SAC 2024) will take place from October 10th – 13th, 2024 at Itaguaí, and will be the 19th edition of the iconic tournament in the region. The Women’s edition will see teams from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Cayman Islands compete for the Title, while the Men’s edition will see teams from Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay compete for the Title.

The U19 Men’s event will take place from August 14th – 18th at Poços de Caldas, and will see the U19 National teams of Argentina, Brazil and Cayman Islands compete for the title, while the inaugural edition of U19 Women’s event will also take place at the same time as the senior Women’s event with Brazil and Argentina competing for the U19 Women’s SAC title. Argentina Men are the Defending Champions from the 2023 edition hosted by Cricket Argentina in October last year, while the previous Women’s edition was held in 2022 in Brazil, where Canada Women had triumphed in their maiden appearance in the tournament.

Cricket Argentina (Asociacion de Cricket Argentina) will be hosting the Senior and U17 Women’s team from Chile for a bi-lateral series at Maurice Runnacles Oval at Club San Albano in Buenos Aires from October 13th – 15th, 2023. The Women’s series will see three (3) matches each between the senior teams (T20 Internationals with ranking points) and the U17 teams, which will take place at the same time as the U15 and U19 Men’s South American Championships at St Georges College ground in Quilmes, Buenos Aires.

Cricket Brazil to host Argentina Women’s team for T20 Internationals in June 2023

Cricket Brazil will be hosting the Women’s National team of Argentina from June 14th – 20th, 2023 at Poços Oval – South Zone Ecological Park in Poços de Caldas, for a series of five (5) T20 International matches carrying ranking points. This will be the first bi-lateral series between the Women’s teams from both the countries with each other, outside of ICC regional pathway tournaments (previously held Americas Qualifiers in Mexico in 2019) and Women’s South American Championships (previously held in 2022 WSAC edition in Brazil in October, where both teams played each other the last time). The series will begin preparations for both the camps ahead of their travel to the US in September 2023 for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier.

Cricket Argentina to organize domestic T20 tournaments in January/February 2023

Cricket Argentina will be hosting both Men’s and Women’s domestic T20 tournaments in January and February 2023. The Men’s tournaments will see domestic clubs compete in three (3) divisions starting from 28th January 2023, while the Women’s Challenge Cup will have four (4) domestic clubs competing for the title, starting from 05th February 2023. The Men’s first division will have teams from Hurlingham Club, Belgrano Lions, Lomas AC, Belgrano Bears, Old Georgian Club and San Albano compete for the title, while the Women’s Challenge Cup will have teams from San Albano, Belgrano Club, Lomas AC and Buenos Aires C&RC compete for the title.

Cricket Argentina are set to host the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas sub-regional qualifier in February 2023, and will be competing against teams from Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Bahamas, Belize and Panama for three (3) qualification spots into the regional finals, and the domestic competition will prepare the Men’s national squad members for the tournament. The Men’s team last participated in an International event during the 2022 South American Championships held in Brazil in October, and will be playing a 2-match T20I series with Bermuda just before the start of the qualifiers.

Argentina beat Chile to win 14th South American Championship

Argentina remained unbeaten throughout the tournament to clinch the 14th South American Championship defeating Chile in the final by 7 wickets.

Batting first, Chile could manage to score only 132/8 in their 20 overs. Mayank Patel (52 off 46) held the innings together as wickets kept falling at the other end. Some late hitting from Jaggi Singh (30 off 18) took Chile to their final score.

Agustin Husain (2/23), Abhiram Raghuprakash (2/25) & Pedro Arrighi (2/28) were the pick of the bowlers for Argentina.

In reply, Pedro Arrighi (29 off 20) provided a quick start before Ramiro Escobar (42 off 34) & Lautaro Musiani (45 n.o off 28) took the team home with Argentina losing 2 more wickets to end up making 138/3 in only 15.3 overs to register a comfortable 7 wickets victory.

Mexico & Colombia have fallen off in the race to finish in the top 3 of the event after losing most of their matches so far in the competition.

Uruguay Invitational XI will rue the fact that they lost both their T20 matches on day 3 of the event. That has allowed the other teams to catch up with them on the points table and get ahead on better run-rate and in the race to fight Argentina in the eventual final of the competition.
