Under the agreement Cayman National will assume title sponsorship of the Under-15 tournament, which is scheduled for 2024, but also support the year-round primary school league, the upcoming Under-19 competition and all cricket initiatives. The funding – totalling just over CI$50,000 – will include cash and an overall investment in uniforms, equipment, field branding, awards, trophies and prizes as well as motivational and educational opportunities for the youngsters.

The interest is there and now is the time to harness that enthusiasm. We believe with Cayman National’s support that we can continue to grow the sport and find new ways to expose our young people to the game, locally, regionally and internationally.”

The National team qualified for the Americas Qualifier from the sub-regional qualifier tournament held in Argentina in February/March, and will compete against the host’s Bermuda, Canada and Panama for one qualification spot into the main event in the US and West Indies.

The matches will be the first International fixtures for the men’s team of Bahamas since their participation in the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas qualifiers held in November 2021 in Antigua. Domestic T20 leagues have started in Oman, Cayman Islands, Indonesia, Kuwait and Argentina, while Tanzania tournament has reached the finale stage. Tanzania cricket have announced the launch of their domestic T10 competition after the conclusion of the T20 event. Even Vanuatu have started the national T10 Championships for both men’s and women’s, and are live streaming the action on their facebook page.

Czech Republic have just announced the team’s and the dates for their three divisions in the T20 format, with Division 3 being introduced for the first time in 2021. Netherlands board have also confirmed that men’s and women’s TopKlasse competition will start from the first week of May 2021.

Elsewhere, The player draft was held by Cricket Namibia for Richelieu T20 competition in 2021, with all the four franchises making their draft picks and as the current 50-overs/T20 competitions are coming to an end, the franchise T20 league will further strengthen the national set-up, which is set for important tournaments in 2021

Domestic competitions for men’s and women’s have also started in Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and other Associate members countries.

The touring party will comprise members of the Club’s Academy and senior members of the clubs first XI squad. The touring party also includes coaching education and other specialists, who will conduct coaching and development courses during their stay.

Cayman Islands men’s squad will play two T20 matches, while a Presidents XI squad will play a 2-day match during the clubs stay in the country. The tour will also see the Club play two more T20 matches (one each against Secretary XI and CCPL All Stars squads). All matches will be played at the Jimmy Powell Oval in West Bay.

Cayman Islands will be seen later in the year in the ICC 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup Americas regional qualifiers.

Those were the headline making scenarios that occurred during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas regional finals in Bermuda, as the host nation upset their highly fancied opponents in USA, not once but twice in the double round-robin group format in the tournament. Canada remained unbeaten throughout the tournament to finish with 5 wins from their 6 matches (one wash/out match against Bermuda), while Bermuda registered twin victories over USA and Cayman Islands to finish 2nd in the points table with 4 wins from their 6 matches.

USA finished 3rd overall with 2 wins over Cayman Islands, who finished the tournament without registering a win from their 6 matches.

Navneet Dhaliwal (Canada) was the highest run-scorer in the tournament, followed by Ravinderpal Singh (Canada) and Steven Taylor (USA). Among the bowlers, Dillon Heyliger (Canada) was the highest wicket-taker, followed by Timil Patel (USA) and Romesh Eranga (Canada).

The tournament saw Queensland pacer Cameron Gannon make his T20I debut for USA, while former Zimbabwe International Gregory Strydom made his T20I debut for Cayman Islands. Bermuda were also helped by the availability of Sussex county player Delray Rawlins for the event and hopefully, he will be available for them during the Global Qualifiers as well.

A crucial win as top 2 teams amongst the three will qualify for the Americas Regional qualifiers to be played in 2019. Argentina’s decision to bat first after winning the toss back-fired as they got bowled out for paltry 88 runs in 19.3 overs.

Opener Pedro Arrighi top-scored with 34 runs from 40 deliveries at the top after Argentina were reduced to 13/3 in the 5th over. Arrighi compiled a 31 runs partnership for the 4th wicket with Pedro Baron (12 off 16) but after their departures, Argentina were stranded at 58/5 in the 13th over.

Hernan Fennell (14 off 12) added some crucial runs down the order but Argentina could only reach till 88 as the whole team got bowled out by an impressive bowling display by Cayman Islands bowlers. Conroy Wright (2/12), Kevon Bazil (3/20) and Troy Taylor (3/14) were the pick of the bowlers for Cayman Islands.

Cayman Islands had a bad start as Ainsley Hall was dismissed on the first ball of their chase but Omar Willis (17 off 26) and D Cato (24 off 19) struck a flurry of boundaries to take the total to 30/1 in the 6th over.

Cayman Islands lost 4 more wickets en-route to their target as they reached 91/5 in 17 overs to win the contest by 5 wickets.

Cayman were in a spot of bother at 39/3 in the 8th over but captain Ramon Sealy (28 off 33) played a calm hand in guiding his team towards the target.

Lautaro Musiani (2/15) was the pick of the bowlers for Argentina with John Hurley, Hernan Fennell and Pedro Arrighi picking up a wicket apiece.
