Cricket Kenya have announced their 14-member men’s national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa qualifiers in Rwanda from November 15th – 21st, 2021. Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda have already qualified for the regional finals, while the final participant will be decided in the upcoming sub-regional qualifiers in Rwanda in the first week of November.

Rakep Patel and Collins Obuya who made themselves unavailable for Kenya’s recent tour to Uganda, are back in the squad, as Kenya look to stake claim on the lone qualification spot from the tournament into the Global Qualifiers in 2022. Sukhdeep Singh gets his maiden call-up into the national squad on back of some impressive performances in the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) 50-over League competition in the past couple of months.

The regional finals will be competed in a double round-robin group stage format, with the top team in the points table at the conclusion of the group stages achieving qualification.

Kenya Men’s Squad

Shem Ngoche (Captain), Irfan Karim, Emmanuel Bundi, Eugene Ochieng, Rushabhvardan Patel, Alex Obanda, Rakep Patel, Sukhdeep Singh, Elijah Asoyo, Nehemiah Ngoche, Peter Lang’at, Vraj Patel, Gurdeep Singh and Collins Obuya

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) concluded a successful 12-day tour of Kenya, where they played against local clubs and Kenya U19/Kenya Select XI over a series of matches in different formats.

The tour had it’s difficulties as most of the Kenyan national squad members were on strike due to non-payment of their salaries from the current Interim committee management running the operations in the country. Most of the U19 players, who played in the ICC U19 World Cup in 2018, made up the numbers for the select XI team fielded for the games.

MCC tour members also took part in giving coaching lessons to youngsters during the visit and that part remains the best thing during MCC’s visits to various nations throughout the calendar year.
