Tanzania Development XI score upset win over MCC in T20 match

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) got the first taste of competitive cricket in front of them on their tour of Tanzania and Kenya as they lost the opening T20 fixture of the tour against a Tanzania Development XI by 31 runs.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, racing to 58/1 in the power play overs, with M Omari (25) and A Jasani (16) providing a good start. K Nassoro (91) played an exceptional knock and along with S Jumbe (44) took the team to a huge total of 217/4 in their 20 overs. Jimmy Dixon (1/20 off 2) and Jim Hindson (1/26 off 4) were the pick of the bowlers for MCC.

The asking rate was always going to be stiff and with MCC losing regular wickets, it became very difficult to chase down the total. Suneet Sharma (25 off 14 balls) and Ruel Braithwaite (36 off 25 balls) provided some late resistance but MCC could only get upto 186/6 in their 20 overs to lose the contest by 31 runs.

K Nassoro (2/26) and S Jumbe (2/36) were once again in the thick of the action, this time with the ball.
