Tanzania board to organize T20 Super League to prepare for ICC qualifiers

Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) have announced that their players will take part in the T20 Super League tournament in February 2021. The tournament will feature the same clubs currently playing in TCA Super League in the 50-overs format. Serengeti Giants, Tembo Warriors, Kilimanjaro Aces and Ngorongoro Titans are the four teams, that will compete in the T20 Super League.

The tournament will take place from February 14th – March 07th. All the matches will take place at Burhani. The tournament will be keenly watched by national head coach Steve Tikolo to make his plans for Tanzania for the upcoming Africa sub-regional qualifiers for ICC T20 World Cup.

The teams will play each other in a single round-robin group stage format, followed by semifinals and finals/playoff matches. Tembo Warriors are currently leading the points table in the 50-overs competition, with four wins from their five matches played so far. Kilimanjaro Aces and Serengeti Giants are placed 2nd and 3rd in the points table, with all top three team’s within a match-win distance between each other.

Jitin Pratap Singh, Arshaan Jasani and Ivan Ismail are the top three run-scorers in the 50-overs competition, while Issa Safari, Kassimo Nassoro and Riziki Kizito are the top three wicket-takers in the competition.
