Samoa International Cricket Association (SICA) announced the conclusion of the 2020 Teuila Festival competition, which saw participation from 24 teams competing in the men’s division and 14 teams competing in the women’s division at the Garden Oval cricket ground in Tuanaimato.
Siusega Bradaz took home the champions trophy in the men’s division, while Malaeola ma Gafoaga from Leauva’a were crowned the women’s champions.The first runner up for men was Manunu, while Momoli Laau i Foga’a was in second place for women’s division.
All the competing teams received a prize of $700.00 from Samoa Cricket, with the winners of men’s competition receiving a sum of $2,500.00 and the women’s champion team getting a monetary prize of $2,000.00.
The men’s Shield competition also saw a new winning club, with Ma’a Seugogo from Fusi Safata defeating last year’s winners, Alafua Raiders. The tournament saw a total of 16 teams competing, with Samoa Cricket keeping a keen eye on performances, which will enable the top domestic players (senior and U19) vie for spots in the respective national squads for ICC/ICC EAP (East Asia-Pacific) tournaments in 2021. The tournament saw addition of new teams from Solosolo and Falelauniu regions (two teams).
