Thailand and Scotland Women are the leading Women’s Associate members in the latest global T20I rankings updated by ICC. The upcoming months will give both the countries and other members gain up in the ranking points and positions in the ladder, with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers set to be held in Scotland in Aug 2019.
Before the qualifiers, Netherlands will host Ireland, Scotland and Thailand in a Women’s T20I quadrangular series and thus, all the team’s in the series will get more matches to prepare for the global qualifiers.
Papua New Guinea and USA Women’s team’s will also get the opportunity along with Thailand, Scotland and Netherlands in the global qualifiers. Papua New Guinea Women are currently taking part in the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa, where they are competing against the host’s, Vanuatu and Fiji in the Women’s category. All matches in Pacific Games are official T20I matches as well.
France are also due to host a Women’s T20I quadrangular series from Jul 31st – Aug 03rd at Nantes, where they host and compete against Women’s team’s from Jersey, Austria and Norway.
The global team rankings sees a total of 52 countries ranked on the points table. All teams will have to play six T20I matches in the previous three to four years to remain on the rankings table.
Mali Women have also entered the global rankings at #53 after their debut in the Kwibuka Women’s T20I tournament held in Rwanda, which sees the winners Tanzania Women enter the Top 20.
