Thailand players in Women’s Global Development Squad tour of Australia

Thailand Women’s national squad captain Sornnarin Tippoch, along with teammates Suleeporn Laomi and Naruemol Chaiwai have been selected in the Women’s Global Development Squad, which will be touring Australia from Oct 09th – 14th, 2019, where they will play against Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) teams.

The squad members will also be part of different WBBL squads for their first-round matches. The squad of 13 members also consist two players each from Papua New Guinea (Kaia Arua and Tanya Ruma), Bangladesh (Rumana Ahmad and Nigar Sultana) & Scotland (Sarah Bryce and Katie McGill), along with Hannah Rowe (New Zealand), Lara Maritz (Ireland) and Ni Made Putri Suwandewi (Indonesia). The squad will be led by Pakistan’s Bismah Maroof.

The tour will be crucial for Thailand players, who will taking part in their maiden ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia in Feb 2020. Sean Trouw (Netherlands) will be the head coach for the squad, while Peter Ross (Scotland) will be the assistant coach.

All matches in the tour will be played in the T20 format. The tour will be the 4th edition of the programme, which has seen tours to England (Jul 2018 & Jul 2019) and Australia (Nov 2018), having taken place earlier.
