Cricket History books had few new pages updated on them as Thailand’s Women’s squad scripted one of the finest moments in their nation’s sporting history by securing their place in the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia. They joined Bangladesh Women as the two qualifiers from the 8-nation qualifying tournament being held in Scotland.
PNG and Bangladesh will now compete in the final to decide who heads into Group A and Group B at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Thailand beat PNG by 8 wickets in Dundee to take one of two places, while Bangladesh knocked out Ireland in a low-scoring thriller at Forthill. In the other position play-off matches, Netherlands defeated USA and Scotland defeated Namibia to set up their 5th/6th play-off match. USA and Namibia will compete in the 7th/8th play-off match, while PNG and Ireland will compete for the 3rd/4th position in the final tournament standings.
