Thailand Women players back in action in 50-overs cricket in domestic season

Thailand Women national squad is back in action in the 50-overs format in domestic season for 2022, as they take part in Bangkok Cricket League (BCL) Premier Division tournament with other Men’s domestic clubs in the country.

Thailand Women were last seen in action during the Women’s World Cup qualifiers held in Zimbabwe in November 2021, which got cancelled due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic (detection of new variant, Omicron) and the team missing out on qualification chances despite a stellar show during their group stage matches that included wins over Zimbabwe, USA and Bangladesh. However recently, the ICC have announced that a select number of Associate member countries will be granted WODI status for them to have a shot at qualifying for the Global qualifiers directly (without the regional qualification method used in previous editions) and still have a chance to advance to World Cup proper, based on their WODI rankings in an event of a cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances.

National squad Captain Naruemol Chaiwai has been the most consistant batter for the team in the league with 210 runs in the six (6) games, followed by Nattakhan Chantan with 201 runs in as many game. In the bowling department, Onnicha Kamchomphu has been the standout performer with 10 wickets in four (4) matches, followed by Thipatcha Putthawong (5 wickets), Phannita Maya (5 wickets), Nattaya Boochatham, Rosenanee Kanoh, Sornnarin Tippoch and Suleeporn Laomi (all 4 wickets each).
