Five Associate Members have been awarded for their contribution to the growth of cricket at the ICC Development Programme Awards 2017 at ICC Annual conference in Dublin, Ireland, with the Emirates Cricket Board taking the top prize for their development program.
The Emirates Cricket Board were awarded the Gray-Nicolls Best Overall Cricket Development Programme and will receive the equivalent of 3500 GBP of cricket equipment for winning the top honours at the awards ceremony.
The Best Women’s Cricket Initiative has been won by the Rwanda Cricket Association, after Rwandan cricketer Cathia Uwamahoro achieved the Guinness Book of Record entry after batting continuously for 26 hours to raise funds for the construction of Gahanga Cricket Oval in Kigali.
Rwanda Cricket Association was also awarded the Spirit of Cricket Award to help over 240 orphans at the Ntarama genocide memorial site in Bugesera district.
Mexico’s Craig White was awarded the Volunteer of the Year recognition for his dedication to the sport and spreading more awareness and getting more people involved in the sport in the past couple of years.
The Lifetime Service Award was awarded to Brian Fell of the Deutscher Cricket Bund. Brian Fell retired from his position as President of the Deutscher Cricket Bund in November 2017, after 23 years, overseeing the growth of the sport in Germany, which has increased by leaps and bounds in the past couple of years due to the influx of Afghanistan refugees.
The Image of the Year has been awarded to the Vanuatu Cricket Association for their Beach Cricket program.
