Tough grouping for Nepal, UAE and HK in ACC U19 Asia Cup

As announced earlier by Asian Cricket Council, Bangladesh had been chosen as the host country for ACC U19 Asia Cup to be held in Sep/Oct 2018. The tournament will begin from 29th Sep 2018 and the matches will be played at Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar. The tournament, which will be played in 50-overs format, will see 8 countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Nepal & UAE) compete in the tournament.

Afghanistan Cricket Board have disclosed on their official website that U19 team’s of Afghanistan, India, Nepal and UAE will be placed in one group, while U19 team’s of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Hong Kong are placed in the other group.

Nepal, Hong Kong & UAE qualified for the main event on virtue of participation in 2017 ACC U19 Asia Cup. The full official schedule is not announced yet; however, Afghanistan are slated to open their campaign against UAE on 29th Sep 2018.

********************* 2020 Update **********************

Nepal, Hong Kong & UAE will be taking part in the 2020 ACC U19 Asia Cup, to be hosted by Emirates Cricket Board. Nepal and Hong Kong qualified from the Eastern Region Qualifiers, while UAE won the Western Region qualifiers in 2019. The 2019 edition was a disappointing campaign for all the Associate members, as none were able to register any win over the full members, unlike the 2017 edition, when Nepal U19 registered a famour win over India U19.
