Following on the footsteps of their senior squad’s domination in the Women’s cricket landscape in the Asian region, Thailand’s U19 Girls too displayed the same zeal and skills to emerge as Champions in the inaugural U19 Girls Open Belt & Road Tournament in Shanghai, China.
Malaysia U19 finished 2nd overall in the tournament, after they won the final group stage match against Nepal U19. Thailand U19 remained unbeaten in the tournament, with victories over Malaysia U19, Nepal U19, China U19 and Myanmar U19 in the 5-nation event held at Shanghai Community Sports Club facility. Nepal U19 finished 3rd in the tournament, followed by China U19 and Myanmar U19.
Malaysia’s Mas Elysa Yasmin, who holds the T20I world record for best bowling figures of 6/3 in a match, was adjudged the player-of-the-series, having made 147 runs and picked up 5 wickets in the 4 matches.
