Oman to host U19 World Cup Asia Division 2 qualifier in September 2022

Oman Cricket (OC) will be hosting the Asia Division 2 qualification pathway tournament from September 29th – 07th October 2022, which is the pathway towards 2024 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. The previous edition of the Division 2 tournament in 2020 towards 2022 edition of the U19 World Cup was cancelled owing to COVID-19 pandemic. The two finalists from the Division 2 qualifier will be progressing to the Asia Qualifier, where they will join Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal and UAE, who are already granted a place at the final stage of qualification.

Host’s Oman will be competing along with U19 teams from Bhutan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Qatar for qualification towards Division 1 in the month of September 2022 at Al Amerat Ovals in Muscat. The originally scheduled event in March was postponed owing to quarantine period requirements (both in Oman and return back home) for some of the travelling Countries. Some of the teams have already started their preparations for the event, with Bahrain U19 team touring both UAE and Singapore in the past couple of months. Group A will comprise of teams from Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Bhutan, while Group B will comprise of teams from Hong Kong, Singapore, Qatar and Thailand.

        Bahrain U19 team went through an entire tour of Singapore before this event. You can find all the relevant score links in our article on the website. As for the others, if they had played any, we would have definitely updated the information.   • Why china is not participating in these important tournaments..They recently missed in womens tournament too in senior level and under 19 tournament

      China teams are not participating due to COVID restrictions. Their Men’s team will be part of Asia sub-regional qualifier for 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next year, while the Women’s team are next scheduled to play East Asia Cup in 2022 in Japan.
