In a major boost to ongoing cricket operations in UAE (Full member bi-lateral’s, Afghanistan Premier League & recently concluded Abu Dhabi T20), Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) have received a shot in the arm with the development of a solitary T20I against World #3 ranked Australia on Oct 22nd, 2018.
The match will be played at Sheikh Zayed International Stadium Oval 1 in Abu Dhabi, due to start at 2:00 pm local time. To read the official announcement on ECB website, click here.
Zayed Abbas, Emirates Cricket Board Spokesperson said; “We are delighted to be in a position to announce this fixture and we are extremely grateful to the ICC for their support in accrediting the Abu Dhabi Oval for T20 International cricket at such short notice Our thanks also goes out to to Cricket Australia for approaching this opportunity so positively, and especially to the Pakistan Cricket Board for permitting this match during their home tour in the UAE with Australia. It has been an incredible effort from all parties to bring this match to fruition.”
Australia are currently in UAE for their Test and limited-overs (T20I) series against Pakistan and the T20I will be held before they take on Pakistan in a 3-match T20I series, starting 24th Oct 2018.
The match will be UAE’s first International fixture after their recent involvement in ACC Asia Cup Qualifiers in Malaysia, where they also got to play a solitary ODI status game against Nepal. UAE are currently ranked #13 in the ICC T20I team rankings.
