UAE announce squad for U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa

Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) have announced the 15-member squad, which will take part in the upcoming ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa from Jan 17th – Feb 09th, 2020. UAE U19 squad qualified for the World Cup after remaining undefeated in the Asia Division 1 qualifiers in Malaysia in Apr 2019.

UAE U19 will be making their 2nd appearance in the U19 Cricket World Cup, after having made their maiden appearance in 2014, being direct entries as the host of the tournament. UAE are drawn alongside Afghanistan, Canada and hosts, South Africa, in Group D of the World Cup.

Three players in the squad (Vriitya Aravind, Karthik Meiyappan & Jonathon Figy) are currently part of the UAE senior squad, which is playing in the 3rd round of ICC CWC League 2 tournament at home against USA and Scotland. UAE U19 squad also took part in the ACC U19 Asia Cup in Sep 2019 to prepare for the World Cup, where they played the likes of Bangladesh U19 and Sri Lanka U19 in the group stages.
