Cricket Namibia (CN) will be hosting Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) senior men’s side for a home series from April 02nd – 09th, 2021 at Windhoek, comprising of T20I and 50-overs games. The series will be known as Castle Lite series and the matches will be live streamed on Cricket Namibia’s Facebook channel.
CN CEO Johan Muller said in the official press release “Cricket Namibia is glad to announce the return of International cricket on home soil. Sport has slowly been returning all over the world. Through the implementation of Covid 19 regulations, tours and tournaments will again be able to continue. We want to thank Uganda for taking this opportunity to travel to Namibia. We are looking for a strong on-field challenge of high-level cricket. Under current regulations unfortunately no spectators will be permitted but we will announce exciting means on how every piece of the actioned can be followed.”
Uganda and Namibia players have been actively playing in domestic matches and national trial matches in the past couple of months. Uganda players will be in action during Uganda T20 Blitz tournament to impress the coaching staff to stake claim for spots in the national squad.
Namibia players have concluded their domestic T20 and 50-overs competitions, and will now take part in the Richelieu Franchise T20 tournament to prepare for the upcoming series.
The tour will feature three T20I matches and two matches in the 50-overs format. The fixtures list and dates will be announced shortly and all the matches will be played at the Wanderers ground. The countries last met during the Africa regional qualifiers for T20 World Cup in Uganda in May 2019.
