The collaboration between Trinidad & Tobago and Kolkata Knight Riders has often paves the way for player exchange between the franchises when the respective T20 leagues auctions or the main event takes place.
What’s more interesting that this year in 2018 CPL, KKR’s owner Shahrukh Khan himself landed in the Caribbean along with Venky Mysore to lend his support to his sister concern franchise, Trinbago Knight Riders.
The collaboration between the franchises saw Canada’s Hamza Tariq enlisting himself for the IPL Auctions in 2018, while USA’s Ali Khan is currently building up an impressive repertoire to not only get noticed but even might get picked up in 2019 IPL Auctions. Whether he does enough through the 2018 CPL season to get a crack with KKR in 2019 needs to be seen, but the journey since returning back from injury and form concerns in Global T20 Canada tournament till date with TKR in 3 games so far in CPL has been really impressive.
His figures in CPL so far against St Lucia Stars (1/10), Jamaica Tallawahs (3/24) and Trinbago Knight Riders (3/23) sees him leading the bowling charts in the early phase of the tournament and with the kind of form that he is in, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see him back in a USA jersey when the 2018 Auty Cup, ICC World T20 Americas group A qualifiers and ICC World Cricket League Division 3 takes place in the final 4-5 months in this year.
The return from injury started with a stint with Winnipeg Hawks in the recently concluded Global T20 Canada, where Ali Khan finished as the 9th highest wicket-taker with 10 scalps from 8 matches in the tournament so far, which saw him the opportunity come up with Trinbago Knight Riders and he has grasped the chance with both hands so far and looks to even further his reach into other Global T20 leagues. With connections as strong as Knight Riders, it wouldn’t be far fetched idea to actually see in in IPL in 2019.
