Steven Taylor’s five-wicket haul and an unbeaten 70 off 74 balls was the highlight as USA ended their tour of the UAE with a 9-wicket win over UAE at The Sevens ground to win the OD series 2-1 series over the UAE to finish a successful tour, in which they also got to play their first T20I series and 50-overs matches against English county Lancashire and a series of 3-matches against UAE Development XI.
The tour provided USA the perfect preparatory base ahead of ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 2 in Namibia in Apr 2019. The likes of Steven Taylor, Xavier Marshall, Aaron Jones, Hayden Walsh Jr, Saurabh Netravalkar, Ali Khan and others put up impressive performances throughout the tour and USA head coach Pubudu Dassanayeke will be pleased to see his probable XI shaping up nicely for Division 2 matches.
The win over Lancashire and two wins over UAE in the 50-overs matches during the tour will provide much confidence to USA, who are slowly and steadily improving their white-ball credentials since their participation in Windies Regional 50-overs tournament in 2018.
USA will travel to South Africa prior for their final preparatory camp before going to Namibia to take on the host’s, Hong Kong, Canada, Oman & Papua New Guinea for a chance to finish among the top 4 in the tournament and claim ODI status until 2022 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
