USA men’s national squad have had a strong start to their CWC League 2 campaign as they won three matches out of their four matches against Namibia and Papua New Guinea in the ongoing ICC CWC League 2 Championship’s 2nd round of Tri-series at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida.
While USA registered twin victories over Papua New Guinea, Namibia pulled one back to stop their momentum in the tournament, as USA join Scotland and Oman on top of the points table with three wins so far in the Championship race. Papua New Guinea, who have had the toughest outing so far, losing all their six matches in the Championship so far, but still have lots to play for as they play Namibia in the final two matches in the 2nd round of League 2 tournament.
Some of the matches played so far in the tournament have been affected by rains and it has resulted in the pitches to be on the slower side and the spinners from all the countries have taken the advantage of the same. USA’s Karima Gore, Namibia’s Zhivago Groenewald and PNG’s Jason Kila have performed admirably for their respective sides. Namibia’s Jean-Pierre Kotze has scored the only century in the tournament so far, guiding Namibia to a big total in their 2nd game against USA, before Groenewald’s 5-wicket haul put an early end to USA’s chase.
