USA Cricket have announced the 14-member men’s senior squad, which is all set to travel to Oman in September 2021 to play their next round of CWC League 2 ODI Tri-series against host’s Oman and Nepal from 13th – 20th. The schedule for the same has been announced by ICC.
The squad was selected from the 26 players, who had been called for the national camp, with most of the players already present at Woodley Park grounds after the conclusion of LA Open T20 Championships during the Independence weekend. The 26 players were part of the bigger pool of 44 players selected by USA Cricket as part of their National Training group, and also includes 4 players from the National U19 squad, that was announced for the U19CWC ICC Americas qualifiers, which sadly has been cancelled now.
However, two members of the originally announced squad have now been withdrawn from the tournament due to injuries picked up on the tour of Oman. Aaron Jones will be replaced by Sanjay Krishnamurthy and Jasdeep Singh will be replaced by the travelling reserve, Kyle Phillip for the League 2 Tri-series.
USA squad played two (2) ODI matches against Papua New Guinea as part of the tour program to get accustomed to the conditions, much like Nepal, who also played similar number of ODI games with PNG. This will be the first International assignment for USA men’s head coach J Arun Kumar since his appointment, with USA’s last assignment coming during the 5th round of League 2 Championships in Nepal in March 2020.
