Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA) have announced the launch of the ‘SPL Challenge’ in partnership with Societe Pastorale De La Loumpate Limited (SPL) from June 2021, which will be hosted in the T20 format for Men’s and T10 format for Women’s.
The men’s T20 challenge will be played in two divisions with the top four teams from the T20 club championship competing in division 1 and the remaining three teams in division 2. The teams competing in division 1 are Splashe Mele Bulls, Paama Sharks, Mighty Saints and Power House Panthers; while Ifira Black Birds, Tafea Sandalwood and North Efate Bush Pigs will be competing in division 2 competition.
Four teams will be competing in the women’s T10 challenge namely, Splashe Mele Bulls, Ifira Black Birds, Mighty Saints and a combine VCA team known as the Rebels, made up of players from Paama Sharks, Power House Panthers, Tafea Sandalwood and North Efate Bush Pigs.
The Men’s 50-overs competition, which was originally planned has now been postponed since the second round of CWC Challenge League event was postponed to November/December 2021.
Societe Pastorale De La Loumpate Limited (SPL) have already sponsored the High Performance T10 tournament held in January 2021 and the recently concluded Women’s Club T20 competition.
